Initiative summary

Old clothes get a new life.

Punarsutra transforms post-consumer fabric waste into meaningful, high-value products by rewriting the lifecycle of textiles through collection, sorting, design, sustainability, and community-driven craftsmanship.

The Textile Waste Management Project brings together the Textile Committee, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, SBI Foundation, SBI Conserw, and Tisser Artisans Trust to create a practical circular system.

Old Clothes

Discarded garments and textile waste are collected through communities, RWAs, awareness drives, and local recovery systems so usable fabric can be identified before it becomes landfill.

New Products

Usable fabric is cleaned, sorted, designed, and upcycled into practical handcrafted products such as bags, folders, decor pieces, accessories, rakhis, and gifting items.

Empowerment

Every purchase supports women artisans, local skill development, home-based production opportunities, and a stronger circular textile ecosystem in Navi Mumbai.
