Executive snapshot

From pilot stabilisation to expansion and market linkage.

The Punarsutra pilot addresses post-consumer textile waste through collection, sorting, sanitization, upcycling, recycling trials, technology adoption, awareness campaigns, exhibitions, and ecommerce market linkage.

As of March 2026, the project recorded 41.2 MT of textiles collected, 50,000+ households covered, 9,000+ upcycled products made, 59,000+ garments scanned through KOSHA traceability, and 300+ women empowered through skilled livelihoods.

Recognition

Best Project Award at India Maritime Week and Best Project Award under the National Clean Air Programme, strengthening trust in the pilot and its circular recovery model.

Technology

KOSHA AI fiber identification device deployed with 59,000+ garments scanned, fiber data captured, and QR-based traceability app development planned for stronger product transparency.

Market linkage

Ecommerce platform development, exhibitions, institutional enquiries, quick-commerce onboarding direction, and product catalogue growth are helping recovered fabric reach real customers.
